Bamboo backing strip for bowmaking. These handselected strips are ideal for bowmaking. The strips have even node placement, are 78 inches long and 1,7 inches wide. These strips are what I use myself for bowmaking. I select all strips to have an even node placement, this is important to have a balanced material. Leave the nodes intact on the bowbacking.
All bamboo slats are Madake or Moso bamboo with strong powerfibers. Free from splinters or other defects. You can choose for the raw slat or have the bamboo backing flattened. Sold per slat.

Note: It is advisable to leave the nodes intact. Grinding them down creates a weak spot that can lead to failure. You can take the ‘skin’ or rind of the bamboo with a scraper without flattening the nodes.
Due to high shipping costs, it’s more cost-effective to order multiple strips in one shipment.
