Create your own work of art and start shooting!
A few times a year I open my shop to folks who would like to learn the skills to make a traditional bow. In these workshops you learn the basics of bowmaking. The workshops are in the weekends so most people can attend. You can choose between a laminated longbow or five-curve design. All bowstaves have a bamboo or ash back and hardwood belly that is ready to go. Please let me know what style of bowstave you would like with an ash or bamboo back.
We start on Saturday at 8:30 and work until the evening, including a BBQ. On Sunday we start at 8:30 and finish the workshop with a practice round at a local 3D course.
In this workshop I provide you with the needed information on what woods to use and what to look out for. How to read the wood for optimal performance. This will result in your (first) bow and can be used for further projects. The bowblanks are prepared and laminated by me.
We assembly 3 arrows that is matched to your bow and draw length. After we are all done with the work we go enjoy ourselves, taking our finished bow and go shoot it at a local 3D course just 10 minutes away from the shop.
Mind you that all work is done outside, in case of rain there will be a tent set up on site. Because it is physical demanding be prepared to work hard. Participants must be 16 years of age, basic woodworking skills are convenient.
